Diary from a soon to be mamma
I can’t believe it’s May already! So much has happened in the last month and half as well as so little. We are still in the midst of this crazy pandemic, and it feels like a waiting game for the most part. I miss having you all in the treatment room and I truly do miss seeing your beautiful faces!
As you all know, I’m having a baby this year (September to be exact) and this will be my first. When I found out I was pregnant I couldn’t believe it, I didn’t think that it would happen so quickly! When the test results came back positive I was laying on the couch with my fur babies and a huge smile on my face! 20 weeks later (this week) I now have a baby bump and my little sweet girl is moving around quite a bit!
A Rocky Road
The road through the first trimester of pregnancy was a rocky one but I made it through with all the love and support from my friends/family and clients and for that, I am so grateful. This new road through COVID-19 has also been somewhat rocky; with all it’s uncertainty, fears, anxieties, isolation and lack of human contact and connection. It’s definitely been a struggle to manage each day knowing that I can’t be with all the people I love.
More so than anything, it’s been quite hard on my mental health. Each day is different, a little bit like riding a wave or a roller coaster. I’ve really had to remember to let go and ride the wave as I don’t have control over our current global situation. I do have control over how I choose to spend my days though, and with that I am trying to be easy and kind to myself, especially when all I want to do somedays is watch tv!
I wanted this blog post to be about my struggles over the past couple of months as well as some self care practices I’ve committed to since I have the time and wanted to share this with all you mamma’s out there that have little ones already and are about to!
My Self Care Practices
Since my first trimester, I have been taking baths almost on a nightly basis. Mostly because it would help with the nausea but now, it’s become my own little evening ritual where I get to spend some extra quiet time, just me and the babe wrapped in a blanket of warm water, listening to music or a podcast. I’ve also started a morning yoga ritual with some guided meditation. These are practices that I’ve always put off because I was too busy and running around most mornings to get ready for work. Having the time off, as much as it’s been hard, has also been a blessing as it gives us time, something we tend to complain about in life as we are all just “too busy” with not enough hours in a day.
There has been more of everything lately; cooking, baking, walking the dog, writing, drawing, planting seeds for the garden, organizing, and funny enough…more chats with friends than ever before! I hope that you all have your own self care practices that have allowed you to find a little light in the midst of this tunnel. I’m sending love and virtual hugs to you all. Remember that you are not alone in this and please reach out to your loved ones if you’re feeling low. We are in this together and I’m with you!
During this time of COVID-19 and social distancing, we are offering virtual skin consultations to our clients! I am so excited to help you navigate your unique skin journey, go over your current skin care and/or talk about new or existing skin care goals and how to’s.
- Stay safe everyone! xx
